B.A. English (Hons.), M.A. English Language and Literatures (in progress).
Alexandra is originally from Manitoba, but has travelled all the way across Canada for schooling. She journeyed to the East Coast for her undergraduate degree where she graduated from the Honours English Program at Saint Mary's University, and now she lives on the other coast where she is currently completing a SSHRC-funded Master's Degree in English Language and Literatures at UBC.
Between her degrees Alexandra took a year off at her home town in Manitoba, and when she came to BC, she wanted to work on a project that was closer to home. Her studies led her to the first dictionary of Canadian English, The Western Canadian Dictionary and Phrase-Book, that was published in Winnipeg in 1912, and she has been delving into its printing history, the settling of the Canadian Prairies, and the literature of the time, to try to piece together a story of this strange dictionary.
Alexandra is an award winning creative writer and, when she is not writing her thesis or tutoring, she is working on short stories, or running off to the circus where she trains as an aerialist.
