Andrew Wu

MSc. (Interdisciplinary Oncology), BSc. (Biology)

Andrew grew up in Hong Kong and attended King George V Secondary School where he received an International Baccalaureate Diploma (Higher Level Biology, Chemistry and Economics and Standard Level Chinese, Math and English).

In 2012, Andrew began attending the University of British Columbia (UBC) and majored in Biology. In his 3rd year, he attended the University of California San Diego (UCSD) for an exchange program, enrolling in UCSD’s prestigious Life Sciences program and receiving Provost Honours. Andrew then returned to UBC in 2016 to complete his Bachelor of Science degree and graduated as a member of the Dean’s Honour List.

Between 2016-2017, Andrew spent a year as a Research Associate at the UBC Biomedical Research Centre in Dr. Fabio Rossi’s Lab where he studied muscle stem cells and their applications to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This training eventually led to Andrew pursuing a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Oncology at the BC Cancer Research Centre. Throughout his MSc. degree Andrew was able to share his research with fellow scientists and clinicians at several international conferences. Additionally, he took on a leadership role as the Vice President of the BC Cancer Graduate Student and Post Doctoral Fellow Society (GrasPods) where he facilitated learning and professional development opportunities for fellow graduate students.

Andrew graduated and obtained his MSc. in 2021 and currently remains at the BC Cancer Research Centre to continue advancing his research. At the Rasul Learning Group, Andrew is looking forward to helping younger students develop their passions for science and math. In his spare time, Andrew is a big fan of tennis and enjoys both playing and coaching.
