Samuel Rosenblatt

B.Sc. Honors in Biology (in progress)

Samuel was born in New Jersey, United States and moved to Vancouver at age four, where he grew up, taking to the outdoor lifestyle of British Columbia. He studied at King David High School, and was heavily involved in the music programs, teaching classes of students and helping run school performances. Over this time Samuel’s interest in music only grew as he learned to play the drums, piano, guitar, saxophone, and bass.

After graduating in 2017, Samuel decided to take a step back instead of going straight to university. In the two intervening years he attended a gap year program, studying theology and philosophy in Israel to focus on self-growth and ethical development. There Samuel was exposed to a myriad of cultures and religions, allowing him to expand his cultural sensitivity as well as his understanding of different ethical systems. While he was in Israel, Samuel trained as an EMT to serve on ambulances around the country, as well as tutoring in his spare time.

Samuel returned to Canada in 2019, when he began pursuing a degree in Biology at York University, where he has received multiple awards for his academic achievements. During the intervening summers, Samuel worked at the cardiac radiology lab at St. Paul’s hospital, and in Vancouver’s Advance Concussion Clinic, coauthoring articles in the fields of cardiac radiology and concussion assessment. These experiences instilled in him a desire to pursue a career in medicine. Recently, Samuel has developed an interest in medical communication and education and hopes to increase his involvement in these fields as part of his medical career.

When he is not studying, you can find Samuel working on his latest guitar or another woodworking project. If not in the woodshop, Samuel often can be found frequenting the couch with a novel or playing music.
